NIKE — OLYMPIC TAKEOVER
The world’s fastest race. Open to everyone.
The Olympics promise to bring the world together through sport. But when access depends on a paid subscription, that promise has a price. For fans facing a paywall, the question is simple: if sport makes us equal, why can’t we all share the same moment?
Olympic Takeover is a concept for Nike to bring the men’s Olympic 100m final to its Instagram channel, free to watch and reimagined live in Akira's anime style.
The creative connection begins in Japan. Your case film draws on Akira’s vision of Tokyo preparing for the 2020 Olympics,
a striking meeting point between anime and the real sporting event. The idea brings those worlds together, translating the speed, tension and human ambition of the final into the visual energy of Japanese animation.
The proposed collaboration would invite Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo to shape the artistic direction. Each finalist would become an anime athlete, with distinctive character designs, expressive close-ups and explosive movement bringing the race to life.
